Capture shadows through sun printing on both fabric and paper! This workshop offers an introduction to the cyanotype printing process. Experiment with a combination of natural, foraged materials and found objects to create a series of unique prints. Please bring a selection of your own materials to print with for further experimentation beyond what I will provide for the group to work with. Please choose any items you wish to print with; any 2D or 3D object will create an image when printed through this process! Join us for a unique woodworking experience! Learn the art of carving and hand finishing chopsticks from exquisite salvaged wood sourced from Maine's finest furniture makers. We'll work with a variety of beautiful hardwoods like cherry, maple, tiger maple, oak, black walnut, and mahogany. Each participant will create at least two pairs – a set for everyday dining and a longer pair for cooking. No prior woodworking experience is necessary – all skill levels are welcome! Make furniture fit for a gnome! (Or a fairy/elf). Using pieces found in Nature, hot glue and your creativity, we will create tiny furniture. Please note that hot glue is not suitable for small children without parental supervision. When: Wednesday, August 5: 9am–12pm (classroom) and 2pm–6pm (out in the field); Thursday, August 6: 9am–12pm (classroom)

Transform a pair of jeans into your favorite pants. Using fabric scraps we'll make machine patchwork panels to insert into a pair of jeans. Basic sewing skills are needed.

Paper and paint can create wonderful abstracts. The key is to be open, to be fearless and to learn how to add or substract info on your substrate.

Bring: Substrates to work in. That can be watercolor paper, canvases even wood, your favorite collage material, holder’s soft gel to glue your items with.
