Fused Glass - Frit Migration
Fused Glass - Frit Migration
We’ll incorporate powdered frit in this project and show you how to construct your project piece such that the frit “magically” moves from one area of the piece to another.
We’ll discuss the physical circumstances under which this migration takes place and you will create those within your piece so that you can take advantage of this magical technique.

This class is designed to build the skills of those new to glass fusing so that you understand the physical characteristics of fusible glass as well as the dynamics of how glass reacts to heat. Specifically students will learn: Safety in the studio, How to measure and cut straight lines in glass, How to create simple glass projects with multiple layers of glass, How to minimize unwanted internal bubbles in glass projects, The difference between full-fusing, tack-fusing and slumping.

Fused Glass - Organic Burnout
Fused Glass - Organic Burnout
Organic Burnout technique, sometimes referred to as "Fossil Vitra", consists of layering glass powder directly on leaves (or other organic material) and placing the powder-coated leaves under a sheet of glass. When fired in a kiln, the organic material burns away and the glass powder is fused to the base sheet of glass. This base sheet is then "slumped" into a functional object.

Fused Glass - Transparent Overlay: Through the Looking Glass
prerequisite for this class. ***
Transparent glasses may appear dull by comparison to the vivid, bold colors available in opaque glass, but are
ultimately more versatile than opaques because they have their own color. They can also be used to modify the color of
other glass, both transparent and opaque.
In this class we will discuss and demonstrate how to manipulate existing
colors, how to change the saturation of colors, and even make new colors.
The class will include a very brief recap of the relevant concepts taught in Intro to Fused Glass as well as an
explanation and demonstration of how to use sheet glass to dilute or deepen color saturation in transparent glasses. Additionally, students will be taught how to
use transparent glasses to create new opaque colors in an individual glass project. We’ll also provide basic instruction on using
small glass grinders if needed.

Introduction to Glass Bowls

This class will teach several techniques for making three-dimensional round glass objects. Students will employ
their existing knowledge and experience as well as use our class discussions and examples to personalize and embellish their
bowls. Instruction will include a very brief recap of the relevant concepts taught in Intro to Fused Glass as well as

This class is designed to build the skills of those new to fused glass. You will learn how to cut and shape glass;
the physical characteristics of fusible glass; the dynamics of how glass reacts to heat; the principles of designing simple
glass projects; and applying all of this into a simple, multi-layered glass project.
This class is a prerequisite for the two other fused glass classes offered in June.

This class is for beginning students to explore the art of lampworking, a form of glassblowing. In this class we will learn the basics of making a pendant and the start of small figurines as the students become more comfortable.

Fused Glass: Organic Burnout
Organic Burnout technique, sometimes referred to as "Fossil Vitra", consists of layering glass powder directly on leaves (or other organic material) and placing the powder-coated leaves under a sheet of glass. When fired in a kiln, the organic material burns away and the glass powder is fused to the base sheet of glass. This base sheet is then "slumped" into a functional object.

This class is designed to build the skills of those new to glass fusing so that they understand the physical characteristics of fusible glass as well as the dynamics of how glass reacts to heat. Specifically students will learn: Safety in the studio, How to measure and cut straight lines in glass, How to create simple glass projects with multiple layers of glass, How to minimize unwanted internal bubbles in glass projects, The difference between full-fusing, tack-fusing and slumping.
