Black Walnut: Making Ink to Mark Making

Discover walnut ink. Sharon Stanger shares her method for making ink from black walnut shells. Lisa Salsbury guides you through artistic techniques using the ink and flexible nib dip pens.

  • Bring: All materials provided.  Please wear an apron or old clothes and latex or nitrile gloves, black walnut stains.

  • Location: SAFA Schoolhouse Tent (outside), 23 Harbor Rd, Winter Harbor, ME 04693

Flexible Tuition:

  • Pay It Forward Price: $92 – I am able to pay the tuition with an additional donation to support SAFA’s programs.

  • Full Price: $67 – I can make the price work financially.

  • Discount Price: $52 – (limited availability): Paying full price would be a stretch for me financially.

Our goal is to make these workshops accessible to all, while maintaining sustainability of both the Arts for All Initiative and Schoodic Arts for All as a non-profit organization, as well as supporting our teaching artists by paying them fairly.

Paper Mache Bowls

Paper Mache Bowls

You will make two or three molded paper mache bowls from easy to use paper clay. We’ll allow them to dry for a few days, then will decorate with paint and found objects! For trinkets, but not for food!

Chainmaille Making

A chainmaille class for beginners. I will show you how to make chainmaille from wire coathangers. You will leave class with a basic knowledge of “weaving” links together as well as a small sheet of finished chainmaille.
