Meetinghouse Theatre Lab presents: The Gods of Comedy by Ken Ludwig
Described as "...a very funny, Mel-Brooksian romp through academia, Greek mythology, and personal empowerment…", Ken Ludwig’s The Gods of Comedy has razor-sharp wit, absurd misunderstandings, and an escalating chaos that would make even Zeus shake his head.
Daphne and Ralph are young classics professors who have just made a discovery that's sure to turn them into academic superstars. But something goes disastrously wrong, and Daphne cries out in a panic, "Save me, gods of ancient Greece!"…and the gods actually appear! As it turns out, she has summoned Dionysius, a god of comedy, (but also the god of wine and partying), and Thalia, the muse of comedy. The gods are eager to help, but they’re Greek gods, and so their help is not the straightforward, efficient kind a simple human might hope for. The Ivy League will never be the same as this pair of screwball, albeit well-meaning, deities encounters the carnal complexity of college co-eds, campus capers, and conspicuous consumption.
