The Schoodic Summer Chorus will explore the meaning of home and the spirit of place with a cappella music ranging from Renaissance composer, Heinrich Isaac, to seminal new-wave punk rockers, The Talking Heads, and traditions from Finland to Africa to American roots.

One of Washington County’s premier aural explorers returns from the fringe to share salubrious sonic solipsism on archaic found, recovered and non-profitable objects along with some foolish regular instruments.

Schoodic Arts for All’s three steel pan bands perform calypso and contemporary music.  Pandemonium, our older kids’ band, LePandilla, our young children’s band, and Schoodic Steel, our adult band, perform tunes to listen to, dance to, and stomp your feet to.

217 Films’ new documentary “John Marin: Let the Paint be Paint!” utilizes more than 70 of Marin’s paintings, drawings, and etchings, including works in the private collection of the Marin estate which have seldom been exhibited.  Filmmaker Michael Maglaras will introduce his new documentary film about the American painter John Marin, one of the most important artistic figures of the first half of the 20th century.

Authentic Hawaiian Hula “Kahiko” (ancient) and “Allana” (traditional) dance performance.  Hui Na Kawaiuaili,  Hawaiian dance troupe from Frankfort, Maine, performs only authentic hula as we strive to remain faithful to the true values and traditions of the people of the Islands of Hawai'i.

Castlebay will present a program of music and lore celebrating the Celtic harvest holiday of Lughnasa. Songs and tales with Celtic harp, fiddle, guitar & woodwinds will weave a colorful tapestry of Celtic tradition.

"Everybody Loves Pirates" is the story of a young girl named Lucy and her goofy friend, Little Chucky. While fishing one day, the kids discover a treasure map and decide to set out on a quest to find their fortune. Unfortunately, they run into a group of bumbling pirates who try to thwart their efforts by stealing the treasure.

Wednesday, August 11th

A reading of the play by Jan Buckaloo, which is set in Istanbul, Turkey in March 2003, on the eve of the American and coalition forces invasion of Iraq, brings unlikely strangers together in a strange world.  Directed by Lisa Reilich of Meetinghouse Theatre Lab.

Matthew and Jason Tardy have created a show that incorporates tons of comedy with mind- bending choreography.  All this is choreographed to cutting-edge, upbeat original music from their new CD “AudioBody.”
